Getting Ready For Spring...

Want to build this halfy in my yard come spring. Anyone with donations of lumber, skatelite, money... whatever, bring it now, stocking up the garage like a lumber yard for the winter and gonna have it ready to build in March. Any old ramps in the area that need to get picked up would work too. I will dismantle and store usable wood myself.

This is a bowl that my friends made in n.oakland. I helped a little on it. Probably the first backyard DIY thing besides a wood ramp that I have skated anywhere. Maybe I will dig up some of the old photos of Al, Vince, Tim, Fast-Bob, and others shreding while blasting the J.Cash on the record player. The top used to be red, and I have seen full stalefish fly out of the deep end... really.

I have had the chance to ride this pool a couple times and this pool is by far the raddest ever. Removable obsticals, perfect coping (no exaggeration necessary), hips that are easy to access from both ways...
Dont ever pass up a chance to ride this... I mean it!

Head Games

Chili Bowl was super fun... til the blood in my head wanted to see what was going on too!






After resting for a couple hours in the hot sun... I drove all the way to Mammoth, CA to skate the park with Grosso, Jerry (birthday-boy), Cory, and the boys from the OC. Fell asleep probably 10-15 times, got there at 1:00am, saw a bear throw a cement trash can in front of this store in Mammoth. By then, the gash was a large scab, ready for action! Could have got 10+ staples, oh well.



A few from SF and SJ did the journey also after hearing about the idea of going all the way to Mammoth for one day. True diehards.
Sometimes... you just gotta keep pushing forward...

So a couple weekends ago we camped at Ione and had a great time! Lights at night, beer 24hrs, hot chick cop mak'n sure we were all safe! Sac dudes, Jamestown loc's, Modesto's locals and a few other stragglers came out to enjoy the cool evening and hot days of skating. We need to do this more often, that bowl is just too good.

Just the Facts...

I got asked what the B-team was, so here is what I replied and I wanted to share with the rest of you too. Just a brief answer, no essay this time.

Just the good (and mediocre) skaters that will never be on the a-team! Mostly the blue collar anti-heros that just skate for life, skate for fun, and skate for no reason in particular. the local 209 was created a about 9 years ago by a friend and I in a bar and has no membership requirements except that you dont practice being a douche bag and you like to skate! While living in San Diego for the last two years, The B-team started a phrase because I got flowed stuff by grosso and he has a couple others like Eric Nash that get stuff too, so we became his B-Team. So I started the b-team for all my southern california friends that skated, but had no real knowlage of the 209 skaters union in Modesto. Now I have combined them and now Im back in modesto and will continue to spred the good vibes and team spirit of building the skate scene so that we keep doing what we want!

Hate On This...

Well, I'm in the middle of moving back to Modesto from San Diego and havent found alot of time to make a post for skating... so thanks to Mike (again!) for coming though with a little content to keep this moving.

Some good news is that I am getting a 10.5 lense for my Nikon and I couldnt be happier!! I have been waiting at least 15 years to get one of these. You will see some different shots from me for sure. Cant wait!

Anyways....
There is this new zine coming out of the Central Valley called "HATE ON THIS". For issue no. 1 they have roped in an interview with The Nor-Cal Owl, Vanessa Torres. Sounds good already! Mike Hart shot the cover of VT with a frontside rock at The Ranch.



Here is the new addition at the Ranch, a mini street section... country style! It was built for the annual Raise Hell at The Ranch party. Missed it this year, but you can check out the pics (and maybe video) over at the The Ranch's web site for all the mayhem!



Mike also shot me one pic he took at the Wallenburg/Thrasher event, Im sure he has more, I guess we have to wait and see. Until then, enjoy this crowd overview with all eyes on (the winner)Chris Cole as he throws a switch frontside flip down one of the most famous stair sets in the history of skateboarding.
Maybe he has a pic of Lizard King and his bs 180 one foot... that would be rad!

My 32nd 35mm Birth Anual

My daughter gave me three different rolls of 35mm film for my birthday. What an awesome choice of gifts. It makes the Vintage-ness creep back into my skin and make me remember about the first (used)camera I bought... just to take snaps of skateboarding.
So I put the digital away and picked up the N90 for the weekend. Well, needless to say, after a rad weekend and some good fun behind the ol' reflex mirror, the N90 is ride'n shotgun with the digi.. back in the bag at the ready.

Go Lakers~

So I went camping just to relax and not worry about anything except how much I get to sleep in... and the group that was camping next to us was listnening to the Laker game, and thought everyone else should listen to it also!

Two years ago this happened...


So, yesterday we went out and had a picnic in the hills between Poway and Ramona. Perfect day for it, not hot at all. Yes, Katie is pregnant! About 16 weeks into it.


So later we drove up to Julian and had dinner and stopped by a little hole in the wall nick nack shop and found the babies first piece of gear! Oh, its a girl too. We found out last week. Goovy!
